On March 8, 2009, Placitas residents and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the breaking of ground
for the new Placitas Community Library. Honorary shovels were presented to Sus Strasis, library founder; Bill Sapien, early advocate on the Sandoval County Commission; NM Rep. Kathy McCoy, advocate in the
legislature; Orlando Lucero, advocate on the County Commission; Wendy Aman and Judy Labovitz, current and past PCL Board Chairs.
The Placitas Library Board is grateful to the Sandoval County Commissioners, Sandoval County
Manager Juan Vigil, Public Works Head Phil Rios and Project Manager Fred Marquez for collaborating on this project with the Placitas Community.
